Those who know Lisa Vanderpump regard her highly. She’s reported “not Kris Jenner-level savvy, but savvy,” and that’s saying a lot.
The Kardashian-Jenner family has been the undisputed champions of entrepreneurial reality talent, leveraging their celebrity reality star status to jump-start other ventures and raking in billions of dollars over the years!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vanderpump’s business has already earned her a net worth of $75 million.
Still, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spinoff Vanderpump Rules is at the heart of it all.
The show, which is currently in its ninth season, follows Vanderpump and those who work for her in her various hospitality establishments.
The drama, conflict, relationships, and tears were the guilty pleasures that drove the show’s weekly viewership to 2.3 million — making it one of Bravo’s most-watched shows.
Whether bingeing or indulging leisurely, one cannot help but wonder if all the drama is real.
Is Vanderpump Rules Pre-Written?
Meet Jax Taylor before we get to the bottom of that question.
Taylor and his wife Brittany had been on the show for eight years before announcing his departure before the ninth season.
“The last 8 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding, and fulfilling years of my life,” he said in December 2020 to his Instagram followers.
“As difficult as it is to say, Brittany and I will not be returning to Vanderpump Rules for another season.”
Until that point, he had been adamant that the reality show was scripted and had condemned anyone who claimed otherwise.
Later, in an interview with Us Weekly, the former reality star revealed that the scripting was the reason he left the show in the first place.
“In the end, I was completely checked out. “I was just very irritable on the show,” he said before adding, “It was getting a little bit too scripted for me and I just couldn’t do it anymore.”
He admitted that by the end of the show, he was bored. So, what’s the deal with the sudden change in pace?
He added a child to his family.
He claimed that there was no way he could have done the show with his child.
“We put our heart and soul into that show, and we’re very open and real,” Taylor explained. “Having a child alters your perception of how much you want to put out there.”
It’s Not All Fake!
However, fans have always understood that there will always be that fistfull of scripted drama dosage to a reality show, and Vanderpump Rules is no exception.
That being said, it is truly commendable that the entire cast of the show films 14 hours a day, six months a year, while providing premium-level hospitality service to the massive footfall they receive in their many restaurants.
