Virgil Van Dijk, a center-back for the Dutch national football team, is well-known for his power, directionality, and aerial ability. Only Van Dijk, a center-back, has finished second in the Ballon d’Or and taken home the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year and Best FIFA Men’s Player trophies.
Van Dijk is a right-footed, physically strong center-back who, although he can also play on the right, usually plays on the left side of the central defense.

Regarding Virgil Van Dijk’s faith, he is a Christian.
Van Dijk was brought up in Breda by a Dutch father and a Surinamese mother. He played football growing up in the streets, in concrete pens, and during Saturday morning games.
He played at the Willem II Academy and worked as a dishwasher on the side. Van Dijk was switched into a central defensive position in 2008 when he was 17 years old and had previously played poorly as a right-back after attaining roughly 18 cm in height.
The reserve manager for Willem II at the time, Edwin Hermans, believed that despite the change in position and Van Dijk’s physical improvement, he still had “too many limitations” that stopped him from being promoted to the main squad.
Former Dutch national Martin Koeman, who was then employed at FC Groningen, first became aware of him in 2010. He joined the team on a free transfer the same year.
Who Were Virgil Van Dijk’s Parents When He Was Born?
Hellen Fo Sieeuw and Ron van Dijk, Virgil’s parents, gave birth to him.
His father, Ron van Dijk, is a native of the Netherlands. He belongs to the Germanic race. Hellen Fo Sieeuw, a Surinamese woman, was the love of his life. The term “Surinamese” refers to the citizens of Suriname.
They had three children together after being married: Virgil van Dijk, Jennifer, and Jordan. Virgil van Dijk is their eldest kid. His eldest son was 12 years old when he abandoned his wife and children. They were left behind, but it’s still unclear why.
Since their father abandoned them when they were young, Virgil’s siblings and he had lost touch. In an interview, he asserted that he was no longer in love with his father. Jennifer, his sister, decided to go by their mother’s last name rather than Ron’s.
The mother of Van Dijk, Hellen Fo Sieeuw, is of Chinese descent; her last name is a variation of Chin Fo Sieeuw, who emigrated from Guangdong to a tiny South American country.
Examining Virgil Van Dijk’s Professional History
The coaching staff at the club thought Van Dijk was “overtired” and had problems breaking into Groningen’s first squad since he had spent so much time playing with Willem II’s youth and reserve teams.
He made his team’s professional debut on May 1, 2011, when he replaced Petter Andersson in the 72nd minute of play.
On June 21, 2013, Van Dijk agreed to a four-year deal with Celtic for an estimated £2.6 million, which also included a 10% selling-on fee for Groningen. On August 17, he made his debut against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, replacing Efe Ambrose for the final 13 minutes of the 2-0 triumph at Pittodrie Stadium.
José Fonte was made team captain after he departed Southampton on January 22, 2017. Van Dijk entered the game for the first time in nine months on July 29, 2021, coming on as a substitute in the second half of a preseason friendly against Hertha BSC.
