Vicky McClure’s Dementia Choir series is coming back with a new installment that will show the process of creating a brand-new charity track.
At 21:00 BST, BBC One will air the documentary Our Dementia Choir Sings Again starring the Line of Duty actor.
Vicky McClure examines problems with the care system in the new series and collaborates with the choir at Abbey Road Studios on their debut song.
After taking care of her grandma, Vicky McClure was motivated to start the choir.
“Musical Power”
“I couldn’t be prouder of every single person who makes Our Dementia Choir what it is,” the Nottingham actress said.
“It’s a remarkable accomplishment to be able to record a song that provides a voice to individuals with dementia at the most renowned recording studio in the world, and it’s made even more incredible when you think that the recording was created alongside people with dementia,” says the author.
The choir’s song What’s Your Story? helped the Power of Music report, which examined how music may enhance the nation’s health and welfare, get off the ground.
Few things demonstrate the power of music in action better than Our Dementia Choir, according to Grace Meadows, campaign director at Music for Dementia, one of the organizations behind the research. “Music can have a transformative effect on people living with dementia,” she said.
