Australian Car Racer Victor Bray Fought Skin Cancer
In 2017, Australian auto racer Victor Bray was diagnosed with skin cancer. After surgery to eradicate malignancy, he promoted skin cancer awareness. Due to cancer, the racer was out of commission for a while.
His right cheek had squamous cell carcinoma. Victor returned to racing in 2018 after rehabilitating. Victor also had to watch the 2017 Winternationals online from his hospital bed following a 15-hour cancer operation.
In a Team Bray Racing video, Victor says, “They [doctors] say they took out what they needed to take out, and they say I’m slowly recovering, but it’s a long, hard journey, I can tell you.” Due to his health issues, Bray shed 110kg after his cancer diagnosis.

Ben Bray races for squad Bray Racing, his father’s squad. He won Top Alcohol and Top Doorslammer in Australia. They have eight ANDRA Pro Series championships. Also competing in Junior Dragster is Ben’s son Zac.
The team has had vacations from racing, including in 2014 when Ben Bray recovered from a serious drag racing accident and didn’t compete again until 2015. However, Victor’s sons Bray and Zac are now racing.
