Virginia was born in 1965 to Brit Hume, the former Fox News Channel managing director, and his wife Clare Jacobs Stoner. Sandy Hume, her younger brother, is three years her junior.

Sandy committed suicide at his residence at the age of 28 in 1998. He was a Washington, D.C.-based American journalist for The Hill newspaper.

Virginia worked as a public relations, political communications, and traditional marketing professional for The Weekly Standard for 25 years. She was the Republican National Convention’s assistant press secretary.
