Virginia Hume is best known as the daughter of renowned journalist and political commentator Brit Hume and his wife Clare Jacobs. Her father had worked for ABC News for 23 years. He has appeared on Nightline, World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, and This Week.

Virginia was born in 1965 to Brit Hume, the former Fox News Channel managing director, and his wife Clare Jacobs Stoner. Sandy Hume, her younger brother, is three years her junior.

Virginia has a close relationship with her father, Brit, and she is inspired by him in her current position. Virginia is named after Virginia Powell Hume, her paternal grandmother. When they first met, Kim was a producer for ABC News and Hume was an on-air star. Kim and Clare gave birth to their son Sandy Hume on September 2, 1969, in Washington, D.C., the United States. Sandy committed suicide at his residence at the age of 28 in 1998. He was a Washington, D.C.-based American journalist for The Hill newspaper.

Virginia worked as a public relations, political communications, and traditional marketing professional for The Weekly Standard for 25 years. She was the Republican National Convention’s assistant press secretary.
