As the well-known father of Julia Roberts, and the winner of an Academy Award, Walter Grady Roberts rose to fame. He had a brief acting and writing career. He taught acting to Yolanda King, the daughter of civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

When he was presenting the play “George Washington Slept Here” for the armed forces, Walter met Betty Lou Bredemus, an actor and acting instructor, with whom he later got married. When they went on multiple theatrical tours and got married in 1955, they further solidified their friendship and grew closer.
They were partners in the wildly successful Atlanta Actors and Writers Workshop. They previously ran a school for young actors and created 15 episodes of the children’s show Bum Bum and His Buddies for a local network.
What led to their separation?
The couple was having money problems, and the workshop they co-founded was progressively closing. After over two decades of marriage, the couple decided to get a divorce.
His wife filed for divorce in 1971, and it was finalized in 1972. Their divorce’s reasons, however, are still a mystery. Betty moved to Smyrna, Georgia, with her family in tow. Julia’s parents split when she was just five years old.
Three children called Walter their father. Even though he passed away before seeing his children find success in their careers, he undoubtedly inspired them to follow in his footsteps.
His older son Eric Roberts, one of the few performers to have more than 500 credits, was born in 1956 and is a well-known American actor with over 596 credits. Lisa, his second child, was also an actress and producer and was born in 1965. They are both better known as the sibling and brother of Julia, a well-known Hollywood actress who was born in 1967.
His ex-wife Betty remarried Michael Motes in 1972, the same year they split up. Their daughter Nancy was born after they got married, and she committed suicide when she was 37 years old.
Julia and her siblings suffered greatly from Michael’s aggressiveness as a spouse and stepfather to his stepchildren. In 1983, Betty claimed cruelty in her divorce petition against her abusive husband.
When Eric and his ex-girlfriend Kelly Cunningham battled over custody of their daughter Emma Roberts, their once-close relationship was ruined. =Julia supported Kelly in the custody dispute, Eric and Julia were split apart. When Eric received an unexpected invitation to Julia’s twins’ birth in 2004, the siblings were reunited.
Size and Weight
Walter is a 5-foot-8 man. He is about 58 kg (121 lbs) in weight. He has gorgeous, warm black eyes, and his hair is black. His body is 36-28-34 inches in length.
Even though the year has changed, Walter and Betty both lost their battles with cancer. Walter passed away from throat cancer at the age of 44. In 1977, he went away. On the other side, Betty, who was 80 years old, passed away from lung cancer in 2015.
Even though she wasn’t able to spend much time with him, Julia misses him around her kids, Henry Daniel Moder and Hazel Moder. Since she does not have him as a grandfather, she feels deceived. She was devastated by the loss of her mother. She asserts that her mother didn’t show any signs of stress while raising her children while working full-time.
