On Tuesday (March 28), police chief John Drake said Audrey Hale was receiving treatment for an emotional problem at a news conference. The chief noted, “Her parents believed she shouldn’t own guns.”

Authorities said they talked with the Hale family, who knew the suspect purchased one gun but assumed he sold it. The chief also said Hale’s parents thought he shouldn’t have guns.
