James Reyes, the ex-boyfriend of Sherri Papini, became involved in the case.
To be more specific, Reyes stated that during an FBI special agent’s questioning of Sherri in August 2020, she told him her spouse was abusing her. This is why he aided Sherri.
He said she was with him until Thanksgiving Day when she was discovered. She had never been abducted before.
He disclosed that they spoke on pre-paid phones and that on November 2, 2016, he picked Sherri up in a car that a buddy had arranged for him.
James Reyes, Papini’s ex-boyfriend, disclosed her DNA and stated that she was staying with him at the time of her kidnapping.
Papini’s DNA was discovered to contain both male and female components, none of which identified her or her spouse. It matched James Reyes at last.
On March 3, 2022, Sherri Papini was taken into custody by the FBI on allegations that she had fabricated her kidnapping and lied to federal officials in order to spend time with her ex-boyfriend away from her family.
