Wayne Carini- Birth, Age, Ethnicity, Siblings, Education
Wayne was raised by his parents, Robert ‘Rob’ and Rosemary Carini, in Portland and Glastonbury, Connecticut. His father, Rob, served in the Second World War and, thanks to his mechanical ability, became an Army general’s driver.
Wayne spent a lot of his childhood in Glastonbury since Rob ran his own collision repair and vehicle restoration firm. Rob passed away in 2016 at the age of 84. Wayne became interested in vehicles at the age of six, particularly vintage cars he saw in his father’s shop, and he spent most of his weekends with his father attending car events or admiring the cars his father worked on.
Wayne Carini- Relationship, Married Life
Carini met his wife Laurie Carini in the early 1980s when she was one of his customers when he was just starting out working on vintage automobiles on his own. The couple married in the mid-1980s and have two children, the younger of whom was diagnosed with autism at a young age, which sparked Wayne’s interest in increasing autism awareness and donating money to charitable groups working to find a solution.
The family of four is living in a cabin that Wayne built in 1973 and has been renovated multiple times over the years. There were some allegations floating around the internet that Wayne had cheated on his wife with a woman who appeared on the TV show “Chasing Classic Cars,” but whether true or not, it doesn’t appear to have harmed Wayne and Laurie’s marriage.
Wayne Carini- Professional Career
Wayne drove his first automobile, a 1960 Rosso Chiaro 250 SWB Ferrari when he was nine years old, and by the time he was fourteen, he had already decided to pursue a college degree in architecture and eventually become a teacher.
Carini, on the other hand, preferred to focus on the family business after his father decided to leave the shop to him as a present.
Work as a TV personality and vehicle restorer
Wayne’s profession began at a young age when he began assisting his father in his business, and some of the first historic automobiles he had the opportunity to work on included Duesenbergs, Packards, and Lincolns, among others.
Wayne, his father, and Wayne’s daughter Lindsay have served as grand marshals at the Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Festival in New Britain, Connecticut for many years as a result of their fame in Connecticut, and Wayne has also been involved in several charity organizations and programs, including Autism Speaks, the largest autism advocacy organization in the United States. Carini is the subject of a short book titled “We Survived The Crash.”
Wayne has been on various TV shows over the years, including “My Old Car” – a show about classic autos hosted by Dennis Gage that has been airing on Motor Trend since 2019 – and the “Overhaulin'” reality TV series.
Wayne has grown the family business in Portland and is now the owner of three automobile dealerships: Carini Carrozzeria, Continental Auto Ltd., and F40 Motorsports, the only one that deals with vintage cars.
In the early part of 2008, Wayne was recognized and approached by Jim Astrausky, the CEO of Essex Television Group Inc., who offered him a role in his own show, “Chasing Classic Cars.”
The two came up with the concept for the show, and the first episode aired on Motor Trend on June 3, 2008. The show follows Wayne Carini and his F40 Motorsports auto dealership as he searches for and restores historic cars from different eras (and possibly sells them afterward). Some of the vehicles Wayne works on haven’t been seen in public in decades. The series’ main goal is to demonstrate the restoration process as well as how auctions are performed, and how not all of these are ultimately successful and profitable. Each episode of “Chasing Classic Cars” lasts about 30 minutes, and the show has 13 seasons and 181 episodes so far.
