Wayne Shorter, a well-known guitarist, passed away on March 2nd, aged 89. Although the cause of his death has not been revealed, he was discovered dead in Los Angeles, California.

His official Facebook page paid tribute to him by posting a photo of him strolling on the lawn in a natural setting. The text stated:

“At 4 a.m. today, Wayne Shorter calmly resumed his massive voyage into the unfathomable. He was surrounded by adoring relatives. ‘It’s time to go find a new body and return to finish the job,’ he says. A Buddhist prayer is Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.”

Herbie Hancock, a musician, also expressed his grief on Facebook, posting a black-and-white photograph of himself and Shorter, both smiling and debating something. According to Hancock:

“As with every human being, he is one-of-a-kind and has attained the pinnacle of perfection as a saxophonist, composer, orchestrator, and, most recently, author of the superb opera “… “I mourn being around him and his unique Wyane-isms,” Iphigenia says, “but his soul lives on in my heart.”

Antonio Sanchez, a drummer, and songwriter, also shared a photo of himself with Shorter, saying there will never be another like him. He went on to say that Sanchez changed the way music is performed, conceived, written, and perceived.

Wayne Shorter was a well-known guitarist who had been in the music business since 1958, allowing him to amass a large fortune. Idol’s Net Worth estimated his net worth to be around $17 million. Before joining the Second Great Quartet in 1964, he was a member of the Jazz Messengers.

He appeared on many albums and collaborated extensively with Miles Davis on projects such as Filles de Kilimanjaro and In a Quiet Way. Blue Note Records released Night Dreamer, The All Seeing Eye, Adam’s Apple, Schizophrenia, and other recordings by the late artist. He founded Weather Report, a jazz fusion ensemble that was active until 1986 and was best known for albums such as Weather Report, Strange Wanderer, Black Market, Mr. Gone, and others.

Wayne Shorter continued to produce records like Native Dancer and was featured on tracks by Carlos Santana and Joni Mitchell. High Life, his debut album, was released in 1995. He also established the Wayne Shorter Quintet, which released albums like Footprints Live!, Beyond the Sound Barrier, Without a Wire, and Emanon.

Algeria, his second album, was released in 2003 and received positive reviews. He resigned in 2018 due to health issues, but he continued to work as a musician with Esperanza Spalding and Frank Gehry.
