John Roberts After disclosing to his fans last year that he had been unwell and hospitalized, weight reduction has been a hot issue. But his choice to host a program that forced him to undress live on television has caused him to drop weight, much to the relief of his admirers.
And he took part in ITV’s Real Full Monty last year in honor of his best friend David Hughes, who died away from colon cancer back in March 2017. His life was flipped upside down when his close buddy of 35 years revealed his ailment. Two years later, he tragically went unexpectedly, leaving behind his teenage children, Sarah, and his wife.
Martin paid Dave a special homage during his Strictly the Real Full Monty performance, saying that Dave would be “laughing his socks off” at the notion of seeing his pal being nude on television.
I am thus completely terrified by the notion of stripping in front of 3,000 spectators and millions of TV viewers.
However, Sarah, his girlfriend and hastily recruited personal trainer had only five weeks to get him from “creaking” to “vaguely flexible” given that he had been dieting to try to lose a few additional inches.
Update on Martin Roberts’ health
The host of “Housing Under the Hammer” had surgery to remove fluid from his heart in April 2022 after experiencing chest pains. This procedure saved his life. He was sent to the hospital last year due to a possibly “severe” illness, which left him momentarily bedridden and reliant on a drip.
Martin Roberts said after his near-death experience with health concerns earlier this year when his heart, kidney, and liver failed, that he feels as though he has been given a “second shot at life.”
The 59-year-old presenter was admitted to the hospital in April with chest pains he believed were the result of chronic COVID, but it was subsequently found that the fluid accumulation around his heart was a pericardial effusion.
