The Escambia County, Florida, sheriff’s office posted McDowell’s mugshot on Facebook on November 13, 2018. Due to comments and different memes that made reference to his Neck, his mug photo immediately garnered notoriety online.
The newest rap video by Wide Neck, titled “First Day Out,” was uploaded to YouTube in March 2020. By June 2020, the video had amassed over 760,000 views.

A Florida man from Pensacola who gained notoriety online following previous offenses is reportedly back in the Escambia County Jail.
Charles McDowell, 35, was brought to the Escambia County Jail after being arrested on Sunday for aggravated stalking and withholding support. He is being held without a bond.
Charles McDowell, 35, was detained in the Escambia County Jail on November 27, 2022, according to the authorities, and was charged with aggravated stalking and withholding support.
After being detained in 2018 and having his mugshot made public, McDowell racked up more than 1 million social media followers.
As “Wide Neck,” he produced and published rap songs.
According to his most recent arrest report, McDowell committed the offense of aggravated stalking on August 24 in Escambia County.
The claim states that in addition to visiting the victim’s home, McDowell also sent threatening SMS.
A warrant for McDowell’s arrest had been issued back in August before he was taken into custody over the weekend.
To capitalize on the popularity of his memes, McDowell started the Instagram account @damnwideneck during the end of November of last year.
He teamed with Supreme Patty and Damn Long Neck, two additional Instagram users. In just one week, he gained more than 325k platform followers.
As of June 2020, McDowell had over 1.1 million Instagram followers.
McDowell shared the news on Instagram on March 15, 2020.
McDowell declared that he will play football for the Gators in the 2020–21 season in addition to starting school at the University of Florida, where he was majoring in engineering and chemistry.
When he made the comment, he was dressed in Gators gear and had a football and some papers in his hand. He was also sporting a blue ball hat and a bright orange school t-shirt.
Criminal Record of Big Neck Guy
Following accusations that he had methamphetamine and cocaine in his possession and was trying to get away from the police, McDowell was apprehended in Florida.
On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, McDowell’s bond was revoked by the state of Florida due to an earlier arrest, at which point he was detained there.
In February 2020, he was released from jail. McDowell said on Instagram just before he left: This is formally my final Saturday in jail. My final Saturday away will be the following Saturday.
