Ayanda was raised by her grandma because her parents were away. She sang opera and played theatre in school. She also worked on farms and joined Girl Scouts. Ayanda chose modeling after graduating from Nombika High School in Endwedwe. She was a Miss Teen Durban and Miss Teen South Africa finalist.

Ayanda moved to Johannesburg in 2000 to model. After two years, she battled to reach her goals. The waitress worked part-time to support herself while auditioning. Ayanda got acting gigs after persevering. Ayanda was an extra in “Generation” and “Isidingo.” She played a Shangane girl in “Mzansi.”

Ayanda established the Ayanda Women’s Carnival, a forum for Durban’s female businesswomen to discuss issues. Ayanda is the Africa Gospel Awards president and Ncwane Communications CEO.

At 18, Ayanda married gospel artist S’fiso Ncwane in a beautiful ceremony in 2002. S’fiso died of renal disease on December 15, 2016, leaving Ayanda to raise Ngcweti and Mawenza Ncwane alone. Ayanda wrote “For The Love Of S’fiso Ncwane,” a novel about her love for him.
