The connection between Rhett’s parents, Dan and Betty, is a horrifying tale of divorce and double homicide that dominated the news in San Diego, California, in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Dan and Betty were the parents of Rhett.
On November 5, 1989, the notorious Betty Broderick was arrested for the murder of her estranged ex-husband Dan Broderick and his then-new wife. It’s been over three decades since that heartbreaking event, and in that time, Dan and Betty’s children have matured, gotten married, and even started families of their own.
Amid the struggles and later, they all had varied opinions about their mother, but Rhett, who was still a youngster at the time, couldn’t communicate what he felt because he couldn’t verbalize it. However, throughout his life, he has given a few interviews in which he has discussed his feelings about the events that took place between his parents.

Rhett, who is now 43 years old, is the grandson of Marita Bisceglia and Frank Bisceglia. Frank Bisceglia was Rhett’s grandfather. Marita and Frank Bisceglia, his maternal grandmother and grandfather, respectively, were devoted members of the Roman Catholic faith. They were the proud owners of a prosperous plastering company.
Frank, Rhett’s maternal grandpa, was a prosperous building contractor in New York City. Rhett was named after him. On the other hand, his maternal grandparents were Irish immigrants who settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and they followed the Catholic faith.
Because Rhett’s parents, Dan and Betty Broderick, were members of various country clubs, the Broderick family was able to send Rhett and his siblings to a prestigious private school, provide them with high-end automobiles, and take them on ski trips to Colorado.
The family of AD Rhett lived in the posh community of Coral Reef, which is located in California’s Orange County. It was obvious that they were living in the lap of luxury, as evidenced by the fact that he and his siblings went on countless vacations.
Rhett’s siblings include Lee Broderick or Kathy Lee, Kim Broderick, & Daniel Broderick Jr. Although Lee and Kim, two of his siblings, currently call Idaho home, it is unknown whether Rhett’s sisters also call Idaho home.
On the other hand, Rhett’s older brother Daniel Jr. lives in San Diego, which is located in the state of California. Daniel, like Dan Sr., is a member of the legal profession. He is a family man, with a wife and three kids to his credit.
Rhett was placed in the care of his mother’s family in Colorado after the passing of his father and his mother’s subsequent incarceration. Rhett remained in Colorado at this time. Together, he and his older brother Daniel Broderick Jr. were there. Rhett did the military boot camp thing too during his teenage years.
He claims that the constant scrutiny he was subjected to during those difficult times did not make things any simpler for him. They sought to place the responsibility for everything he did on his parents’ condition, which led to the junior Broderick admitting that he always had the impression that he was being watched closely.
Throughout his life, Rhett would frequently uproot his life and relocate. He was born in California and has since called the states of Colorado, Missouri, Arizona, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Oregon, and now Idaho home.
On occasion, however, he would travel to Idaho to engage in winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding.
His Academic Background
Rhett received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Oregon State University is where he earned his Master’s degree.
What Did Take Place Between Rhett Broderick’s Parents?
Betty’s accusations that Dan was having an affair with his assistant Linda, who would later become Dan’s wife, were the first straw that broke the camel’s back for Rhett’s parents, Dan and Betty, who were married.
After a while, Dan Broderick decided to file for divorce, which resulted in a contentious legal struggle between him and Betty involving the custody of their children and spousal support payments.

Betty claims that Dan drove her to her breaking point by failing to make child support payments, obtaining a restraining order against her, placing her in a mental institution, and other similar actions.
Then, in the end, Betty attempted to put a stop to everything when, on the morning of November 5, 1989, she murdered Dan and his wife, Linda. It is said that after she had killed her ex-husband and his new wife, she attempted to take her own life as well but ran out of ammunition.
After that, Rhett’s mother, Betty, was sentenced to 32 years in jail for her role in the crime. In the year 2032, she will be eligible for parole. Betty Broderick is currently serving her sentence at the California Institute for Women (CIW), where she has been assigned the inmate ID W42477.
