Several sources report that popular Nigerian gospel artist Sammie Okposo died early on Friday at the age of 51.
According to reports, the well-known gospel performer became ill on Friday morning and died in an unidentified hospital in Lagos. The singer passed away from hypertension. Before his sad passing, he was scheduled to perform in a Christmas performance alongside other well-known Christian performers.
His recent infidelity scandal made the news. Okposo sparked the internet after he admitted to cheating on his wife Ozioma on his verified Instagram page in 2021.
Following the incident, the musician made the decision to step away from ministry in order to retrace his spiritual steps before returning after a few months.
Sammie Okposo Escaped Death Before
The seasoned musician was traveling on Lagos’ 3rd Mainland Bridge when he almost escaped death in a horrible vehicle accident in May of this year. Even yet, Okposo insisted he was protected from the devil and his adherents.
Sammie related how, when operating a vehicle on the third mainland bridge, he narrowly escaped fatality. He praised God for sparing his life when he crossed Lagos’ third mainland bridge. Despite his initial intentions to keep his testimony private, he felt that in order to truly appreciate God’s majesty, it was vital for him to share it.
The musician posted a description of his experience on Instagram on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Okposo alleges that while driving, the propeller shaft of his car came off, but he was unharmed.
Before going to his final destination of Surulere, he acknowledged that he was moving at a speed of between 100 and 120 kph over the third mainland bridge that connects to CMS.
Sammie asserted that as soon as he heard “SLOW DOWN,” he instantly slowed down to 60 km/h. His car’s propeller shaft made a loud bang and pulled away ten seconds later.

When Okposo recently admitted to having an adulterous relationship, he sparked an uproar.
He apologized to his wife Ozioma for cheating on her on his Instagram page on January 24, 2022. This was in response to African Doll’s claims that he had abandoned her after they got pregnant.
The gospel singer assured his audience that he would put healing first and seek forgiveness. After the incident, he made the decision to leave away from ministry in order to retrace his spiritual steps before returning after a few months.
While the scandal persisted, many people thought that the singer’s marriage would dissolve. The couple’s relationship was advancing even though they were separated by a great distance in Cancun, Mexico.
