Ime Udoka grew up in a Nigerian-American family in Oregon; he went to Jefferson High School in Portland, where he started playing basketball in the small forward position, and he later studied at the University of San Francisco but then transferred to Portland State University. Udoka played a pivotal role with the University’s Vikings and was one of the best players at the time, afterward securing deals with Fargo-Moorhead Beez in 2000 and then with the Argentinian Independiente.
