Athena Strand’s father’s name hasn’t yet been made public. Marilyn Gandy, her birth mother, resides in southern Oklahoma and goes by that name.

Tanner Lynn Horner, a 31-year-old FedEx truck driver who lives nearby, is accused of kidnapping Athena Strand after an apparent altercation between her and her stepmother. Lynn left a parcel at Strand’s parents’ house when he kidnapped the daughter.
The lady told the police that when the stepmother went to her room later that day, she discovered Strand had vanished. Strand’s mother searched for her for an hour before calling the police, who believed the child had left the house alone and then walked off.
Over 200 volunteers and several law enforcement personnel helped in the search. The corpse was located on Friday evening at about 7 or 8 pm, around seven miles from her dad’s house, after two days of searches by law authorities.
Tanner Lynn Horner, a FedEx truck driver, confessed to abducting and murdering Athena Strand on Wednesdhe late afternoon. The defendant was charged with murder in the first degree and severe abduction. Additional information concerning the crime was kept a secret by the authorities.
