On Monday, detectives investigating the death of Ashley Dale, 28, who was discovered with a gunshot wound in the backyard of her home in Old Swan, Liverpool, detained a 40-year-old and a 28-year-old from Huyton, Merseyside, on suspicion of murder and intent to possess a weapon.
Officers were called to an address on Leinster Road at 12.40 a.m. on August 21 owing to suspicions of a woman’s safety.
According to Merseyside Police, a 25-year-old male from St Helens has been questioned at a police station on suspicion of assisting an offender.
All three men have previously been arrested in connection with the investigation. In total, fifteen people have been detained in connection with Dale’s killing.
Last year, three fatal shootings occurred in Liverpool within a week: on August 22, nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel was shot and murdered in her Dovecot home, and on August 16, 22-year-old Sam Rimmer was shot and killed in Dingle.

The key suspects in the Ashley Dale murder case, Joseph Peers and James Witham, have now been charged with Ashley’s murder, which occurred in her back garden.
Ashley Dale, 28, was discovered bleeding from a gunshot wound outside her home in Liverpool’s Old Swan district shortly before 1:00 p.m. BST on August 21. She later died in a hospital.
Joseph Peers, 28, of Woodlands Road in Roby, and James Witham, 40, of Ashbury Road in Huyton, have been charged with murder and having a handgun with intent to kill.
They are due to appear in Wirral Adult Remand Court. According to police, a 25-year-old male from St Helens who was previously detained on suspicion of assisting an offender is still being held.
Dale, an environmental health officer at Knowsley Council, is not understood to have been the primary target of the shooting.
Last year in Liverpool, three individuals were shot to death in a week; her death was one of them.
