Around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 15, Tuscaloosa police and University of Alabama police were called to a shooting. A driver halted when it saw the police car as it was driving toward the Walk of the Champions at Bryant Denny Stadium.
The driver allegedly informed the police that their automobile had been hit by gunfire and that he had retaliated in self-defense. Additionally, the driver claimed that he may have shot a suspect. Jamea, however, had passed away inside the car.
According to Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, a suspect was wounded by gunfire but not seriously. He claimed that a brief altercation between the accused and the victims was what precipitated the shooting.
