She was a television presenter for BBC One’s Crimewatch with Nick Ross at the time of her death.

On April 26, 1999, Dando was shot dead in front of her Fulham House, igniting the largest murder investigation by the Metropolitan Police and the largest criminal investigation in the country since the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper.

The Serbian “warlord” Arkan was classified as a suspect in 2012 despite having gone deceased in 2000.

Although investigators have named over 2,000 possible suspects, no one else has been accused with killing Dando, and the investigation is ongoing.

Where Is BBC Journalist Killer Barry George Now in the Jill Dando Murder Case?

Prior to his arrest, Barry George, the main suspect in the Jill Dando Murder Case, worked as a messenger for the BBC.

Local resident Barry George was convicted of the murder and given a prison term, but after spending eight years in jail, he was exonerated after an appeal and a fresh trial.

George appeared before the Old Bailey on December 14, 2007, and pleaded not guilty once again. The retrial for him began on June 9, 2008.

Two neighbors who saw the shooter go in this direction right away failed to identify Barry George during an identification parade. The trial was concluded with George’s acquittal on August 1st, 2008.

Since then, Barry George has kept a very low profile and hasn’t shared many details about himself or the events leading up to the authoring of this piece.

Barry George was found not guilty and is now free, so we know he is not incarcerated.

How Was Jill Dando Killed in the Murder Case?

Dando, who was 37 at the time, left Farthing’s Chiswick home on April 26, 1999. She drove alone back to the house she owned in Fulham.

Although she had lived there, she didn’t visit much since she was seeking to sell it by April 1999.

Dando was shot in the head at about 11:32 as she went to her front door. Nearby resident Helen Doble discovered her dead around 14 minutes later.

Police were notified at 11:47. Dando was taken to the nearby Charing Cross Hospital, where she was later declared dead at 13:03 BST.

Dando was about to put her keys in the lock to unlock the front door of her Fulham apartment when she was seized from behind.

When the assailant seized Dando with his right arm and pushed her to the ground, her face was close touching the tiled step of the porch.

She was instantaneously killed as he fired one shot from his left hand into her left temple. Right side of her skull, just above her ear, and parallel to the ground, the bullet exited her head.

A 9mm short caliber semi-automatic handgun was discovered to have been pressed up to Dando’s skull during the shot, per forensic investigation.

It seemed as if the cartridge had undergone some modification, maybe to reduce its charge.

Richard Hughes, her next-door neighbor, didn’t hear a gunshot, but Dando yelled because she thought someone had startled him.

Hughes, who was unaware of what had occurred, glanced out his front window and made the sole definite sighting of the murderer—a six-foot (183 cm) tall white guy in his 40s who was leaving Dando’s house.
