Where Is Lauren Tewes Now? What is She Doing In 2022?

Lauren Tewes

A well-known figure, Lauren Tewes got her start in the entertainment industry in 1976 with a little part in the suspenseful crime drama Charlie’s Angels.

Later, during the 1970s, Tewes appeared in a number of other TV programs. But when she was cast by ABC as Julie McCoy Chenault in the romantic comedy cruise series The Love Boat, her career took off.

Tewes prevailed over more than a hundred other women to land the position. She appeared in almost 200 episodes of the show between 1977 and 1987. However, she was fired from the program in 1984 following a number of allegations of drug abuse. In 1985 and 1998, she did make a cameo appearance on the show.

What is Lauren Tewes doing right now?

Tewes is still still employed as an actor. In the 2021 release of the dark comedy Potato Dreams of America, she made her most recent film cameo. She occasionally does voice acting for video games as well. When she is not performing, she works as a sous chef for a Seattle catering company.

In addition, it was mentioned in November 2021 that Tewes would make an honorary appearance on The Love Boat. Princess Cruise Celebrations will deliver the segment honoring the series’ late actors, MacLeod. Ted Lange, Jill Whelen, Bernie Kopell, and Tewes will all appear on the show as co-stars.

How Did Lauren Tewes Get Her Start?

The day before the third Love Boat pilot was supposed to start filming, Tewes was cast. Producer Spelling chose her from a group of 100 actors after spotting her on a Starsky & Hutch episode in which she had appeared. She was instructed to arrive to the set the following morning early.

She borrowed the cash to mend the flat tire on her car because she was penniless and she was expected to join the following day. In addition to having one line in a Charlie’s Angels episode that year, she had previously appeared in over a dozen advertisements. But the much-needed break she was hoping for was found on The Love Boat.

What effects has her substance abuse had on her professional life?

Her path from struggling performer to television star unfortunately wasn’t without obstacles. She was pretty affluent and it was the 1970s. She spent the most of it quickly on cocaine. “I had an incredible sense of excitement. You think your health is terrific.

You think you’re more courageous and strong than other people. I reasoned that it gave me the bravery I lacked. It was similar to asking for bravery in Oz. I got cocaine instead, Tewes stated (as per UPI.). A few years before The Love Boat ended, she lost her job as a result of a string of cancellations.

“I was trying to keep my job, my marriage, and my house. While attempting to please everyone, I was destroying myself. I had just gotten high. I didn’t sleep at all. At work, I fell asleep. The actress said, “I misbehaved at work, and that’s where I made my fatal mistake. Tewes began withdrawing when she realized she was “killing herself” and “not having a good time.” It was too late for her to try to put things right, she claimed, and Pat Klous stepped in to play Judy, Julie’s younger sister.
