Meteorologist Lowell Melser began working for WBAL-TV 11 News in February 2004. Melser, who joined the team as a general assignment reporter, recently took on the role of anchor.
after working for WBAL for more than three years, graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in broadcast meteorology.

Where Will Lowell Melser Be Going From WBAL?
Melser said on his Facebook page that he will be returning to WBAL on January 15 and that he would be departing WBAL.
Working in the same industry for a long period may be mentally taxing; he remarked that he finds it difficult to do this after 20 years.
Melser said that he would be taking a vacation from reporting and may just travel for reporting in the near future.
He is taking a vacation from being an anchor, but he will still be working. He said in his post that he had taken a new job in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
As the chief public information officer for The Department of Public Works of Baltimore County, Melser has taken a new position and begun a new career. He also indicated that this position will use his meteorological skills.
Melser performed his last weathercast for WBAL-TV on January 15 with his family and coworkers present.
He won’t be an anchor or a reporter on television, but he’ll still be accessible to the public thanks to his social media accounts.
Although many members of the audience are okay with his starting a new career, many still want to see him at WBAL.
Many people are sorry to see him leave WBAL since they appreciated his storytelling style and his enthusiasm at work.

Has Lowell Melser been let go by WBAL?
He was not let go, however. Melser decided to quit his job as a reporter and pursue a different profession.
After accepting new work offers, Melser made the decision to depart the program. He remarked that working on general assignment for 25 years is challenging.
Melser expressed his gratitude for his time on the program throughout the years and the opportunity provided by WBAL.
Additionally, he is prepared to take on the obstacles that come with being the chief public information officer, not just the routine tasks; every position has its share of difficulties.
However, he is pleased with the choice he has taken for himself and expresses gratitude to the whole WBAL staff for having a meaningful impact on him.
Additionally, he had a celebration with his loved ones and friends on January 15, 2023, the day of his last broadcast on WBAL.
