Omaha South High basketball player Aguek Arop is excellent. He was selected 2016 Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year after guiding the Packers to a Class A state championship and a 28-1 record. Arop shot 61.8 percent from the floor and averaged 15.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 blocked shots in 2015–2016.
After his impressive performance, the Omaha World-Herald selected him all-Metro Conference first-team and honorary captain. In 2016-2017, Arop topped Nebraska Class A in points (17.1) and rebounds (9.8). He again helped Omaha South reach the state tournament semifinals.
He was named all-Metro first-team twice and all-Nebraska twice. The Skill Factory, a prep school outside Atlanta, Georgia, hosted Arop in 2017-2018 after his high school achievement.
He averaged 21 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists to lead his squad to a 44-6 record. He led the squad in scoring and rebounds, showing his court influence.
