CJ Struggle After His Father Left
C.J. Stroud’s father is serving a six-year sentence at Folsom State Prison near Sacramento and will be eligible for parole in 2040, at the age of 74. Due to his absence, CJ’s mother, Kimberly, was left to care for their four children—older sons Isaiah and Asmar, daughter Ciara, and CJ.
To make ends meet, Kimberly worked on multiple property management jobs, and the family was forced to relocate several times to smaller homes. Kimberly obtained a job running a storage facility in Upland, California, just as they were about to be evicted from their apartment.
She was able to offer the family with a two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment above the facility’s office as part of her profession, which provided a key lifeline and protected them from becoming homeless. CJ persevered in the face of hardship.
He frequently had to open the storage facility after hours for renters and accepted his circumstances with a lighthearted demeanor.
