The respiratory condition that the two-year-old from Rochdale died from in December 2020 was brought on by the mold in the one-bedroom flat he lived in with his parents.

Awaab’s parents had previously complained to Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) about the condition of the home, it was revealed at an inquest at Rochdale Coroner’s Court.

Now that the family has talked about it, they say they feel “stuck” in the flat and “fearful” that the mold would eventually harm their child.

Who Are Parents Faisal Abdullah And Aisha Amin Of Awaab Ishak? Family Information

Faisal Abdullah and Aisha Amin, Awab Ishak’s parents, are natives of Sudan.

Awaab was the first child born to Faisal Abdullah and Aisha Amin. Mr. Abdullah moved to the UK in 2016 from Sudan. His wife joined him in 2017.

Mr. Abdullah is a highly competent and knowledgeable speaker of English, but his wife is not.

This is important when taking into account both the experts’ and the family’s ability to communicate, as well as the family’s capability to express any difficulties or concerns they may have had and understand recommendations.

Awaab was prematurely born at 31 weeks of gestation. However, neither his neonatologist consultant nor any other medical staff members voiced any concerns over his growth.

Everything points to his being an interesting, animated, and adorable two-year-old that both of his parents adored and looked for.

196 Ilminster is a one-bedroom residence. The landlords, RBH, are the property’s owners. Mr. Abdullah moved into the House soon after arriving in the UK.

In 2017, his wife moved in with him, and they stayed there up to the birth of Awaab.

In court, Mr. Abdullah said that in 2017, he saw mold developing in the structure and alerted RBH to it. He said that he was told to cover the mold with paint.

Mr. Abdullah repeatedly painted over the mold

Overall, when Mr. Abdullah voiced his worry, this advice was offered. Mr. Abdullah would have required to completely comprehend how to remove the mold using paint or an anti-mold solution.

More than likely, Mr. Abdullah took this advise and repainted the house multiple times over the course of the next two years, particularly when his wife joined him and their pregnant child was due.

After learning that the property’s mold was a chronic, continuing issue, Mr. Abdullah and Ms. Amin engaged lawyers in June 2020.

A claims company seems to have initiated this claim. Due to rules, any needed repairs after the filing of a lawsuit couldn’t be begun until the claimant’s lawyers gave their consent.

The policy was not created by RBH; rather, it was established in response to similar policies at other businesses.

Between the time Mr. Abdullah got advice in 2017 and June 2020, there is no evidence that RBH was made aware of the reoccurring mold.

In July 2020, Mr. Abdullah began requesting aid from the family’s medical connections since Ms. Amin was now expecting her second child.

A health visitor called Caroline Ridley paid a visit at the House location on July 1, 2020.

Mr. Abdullah had showed her the mold in the bathroom and kitchen, she said in court testimony. He asked for help with the active move application.

Ms. Ridley expressed her worries about the mold in the house and its possible implications on Awaab’s health in a letter that she addressed to RBH on July 9, 2020.

Cause of Awaab Ishak’s Death

The death of two-year-old Awaab Ishak stunned the country, and some of its most senior politicians have voiced outrage that this was allowed to happen.

The mold that killed Awaab was in the bathroom and kitchen of the Rochdale flat he lived in with his parents, Faisal Abdullah and Aisha Amin. Abdullah initially informed RBH about the mold in 2017.

Many things went wrong, some of which led to his death, according to senior coroner Joanne Kearsley.

She claimed that Waab Ishak’s death was caused by a severe respiratory condition brought on by prolonged exposure to mold in his living space.

“Mold was not treated or prevented in any way. She claimed that his respiratory ailment was the cause of the respiratory arrest.

The little child, who “was full of life and laughter,” died from prolonged exposure to moisture and mildew in his Rochdale home, a coroner said Tuesday.

The family claims the housing association is “racist” for not resolving the issue.
