Tre’Dasia, his sister, is a story full of tenacity, courage, and a fighting spirit. Her mother, Gina Tucker, was just 16 years old when she gave birth to her. She weighed only 2 pounds, 14 ounces at birth. She couldn’t breathe on her own and needed to be attached to monitors. As a result, doctors diagnosed her with cerebral palsy, a developmental disorder that affects infants.
Furthermore, they did not expect her to survive more than two months. Fortunately, Tre’Dasia overcame all challenges and triumphed in her battle with the disease. However, she would require additional surgeries and care from family members during her early years. Terry took up a protective role for his sister as a teenager.
He assisted her after surgery by turning her over and getting her dressed. During family trips, Dad frequently carried her on his shoulders. Terry revealed in an honest interview that his sister was an inspiration to him in his athletic aspirations. Undoubtedly, his sister taught him about fighting spirit and a never-say-die attitude.
“I cannot imagine how she must have felt sometimes when she is in her room and cannot go out and be a normal kid, but she inspired me with how she handled things.”
Tre’Dasia, on the other hand, surmounted challenges and achieved more than many doctors expected. However, she wishes to emphasize that her journey has not been easy.
“I would love to be around people who have the same challenges as me, and I want to be a motivator for them.”
She has a humanitarian mindset and wants to help other youngsters who are experiencing similar challenges as she was.
