The Pittsburgh Steelers honored Franco Harris, a Hall of Fame running back, before halftime of their Saturday night game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The long-awaited acknowledgment came one day after the 50th anniversary of “The Immaculate Reception,” Harris’s playoff win against the Raiders, and three days after Harris’s death aged 72. Many of Harris’ old teammates, coaches, and rivals-turned-friends gathered close as his widow, Dana Dokmanovich Harris, and their son, Dok Harris, joined Steelers president Art Rooney II on stage.

Franco is Italian-Black. Franco’s supporters formed “Franco’s Italian Army” because to his Italian heritage. According to the magazine, a loud ethnic group backed his American citizenship.Even though Franco’s religious identity is uncertain, his 1972 drama uses biblical terminology.
Franco was born March 7, 1950, to Gina Parenti Harris and Cad Harris. Cad, his father, was a Black World War II veteran. During the war, he met Gina, an Italian “war bride” who emigrated to the US with Cad. Nine children followed: Daniela, Mario, Franco, Marisa, Alvara, Luana, Piero, Giuseppe, and Michele. Gina died July 15, 1984, and Cad died July 17, 1980, aged 60.
