JayVaughn Harrison, 24, is an American professional high and long jumper. Harrison, who is 1.93 m tall, has gained significant success and renown at a young age.
He achieved personal marks in the high jump (2.30 m) and long jump (8.45 m) during his collegiate career. In addition, the six-time national champion has made headlines in the Olympics. He became the first American male since Jim Thorpe in 1912 to qualify for the high and long jump events at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Harrison just earned silver in the 2023 World Athletic Championship, finishing second to Gianmarco Tamberi.

Juvaughn Harrison was born on April 30, 1999, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Jamaican parents Georgia Harrison and Dennis Blake. They have a kid named Ky-Mani Harrison as well. Surprisingly, his parents are well-known sports professionals who share a passion for track and field.
Given his athletic background, Juvaughn’s passion for sports is predictable. Both of his parents are invested in his athletic abilities and want him to succeed. Georgia Harrison Juvaughn is an outstanding athlete in her own right. She has an impressive resume, having competed at Alabama A&M University from 1993 to 1996.
She was a top track and field athlete in the country during her time. She won gold medals in some track events throughout her career, including the 400m dash and 400m intermediate hurdles. Her obvious athletic ability earned her various honors, including induction into the AAMU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014.
In addition to her athletic achievements, she earned a bachelor’s and two master’s degrees from AAMU. She is presently works at AAMU as a Business and Finance Analyst. Her support for Juvaughn’s professional achievement is apparent, despite her low-key internet presence. Juvaughn credits his mother’s influence for shaping him into the athlete he is today.

Juvaughn’s father, Dennis Blake (born September 6, 1970), is a former sprinter with a long list of medals and accomplishments. Dennis was voted SIAC Most Valuable Player and received the Abbott Award as an Olympic gold medalist and nine-time All-American. Similarly, he shared a silver medal with three other players at the Pan American Games in Argentina in 1995.
Furthermore, the Alabama A&M University alumnus achieved several honors and distinctions throughout his academic career. In 2006, he was inducted into the AAMU Athletic Hall of Fame for his numerous athletic accomplishments. Following his retirement, he pursued a career outside of athletics. According to his LinkedIn profile, he is a Mentoring Thru Sports Professionals project manager.
