Dave Canales’ parents, Isaac and Ritha Canales, diligently carry on the family tradition of watching the church that his grandfather built many years ago.
With this post, we’ll go deeper into the coach’s family history, discovering more about his parents and siblings. Dave Canales is the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). Before becoming a coach, the Carson High School graduate played football at Azusa Pacific University.
From 2004 to 2005, Dave served as the head coach and offensive coordinator at Carson High School, where he attended. He sharpened his coaching talents at El Camino College and USC, guiding athletes to new heights. Furthermore, the coach moved on to the NFL, where he served as an assistant coach for the Seattle Seahawks. Dave joined his new team on February 16, 2023, following ten years of service in Seattle.
Dave Canales’ Parents: Isaac and Ritha.
David Canales was born on May 7, 1981. He is the third child of Isaac and Ritha Canales. Dave’s parents played a crucial role in shaping his thoughts and religion, ultimately guiding him in the right route. His father, Isaac, had a rough life, contracting polio at a young age and nearly dying, leaving his right arm with limited function.
Despite growing up in Los Angeles’ toughest neighbourhood, his father eventually attended Harvard. Following college, he returned home to serve the Misson Ebenezer Family Church, which Dave’s grandparents, Rev. Miguel and Lupe Canales, founded in 1959.
Dave’s father retired after over 40 years as a senior pastor, and his brother, Josh, took over. Furthermore, Dave’s mother, Ritha, is an assistant pastor who works in the church’s human resources department. Nonetheless, the family honestly adheres to God’s ideals and, based on their faith, speaks of the Lord’s magnificence.
About His Two Brothers, Josh and Coba
Dave Canales, a Harbour City, California native, was raised with his older brother, Josh, and younger brother, Coba. Interestingly, all of them have a background in sports. Dave’s brother, Joshua Brubaker Canales (born January 15, 1979), also known as Josh, played college baseball for UCLA.
Despite being selected in the 2001 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, he never made his major league debut. Instead, he took over as head pastor after his father resigned in April 2019. In his private life, he is happily married to his Nigerian-American wife, Bunmi. The couple enjoys parenting and has three children: Elisha, Judah, and Adelola.
They first met at UCLA’s sports training centre, where she participated in track and field. Similarly, Dave’s brother, Jacob Canales (born April 22, 1984Carley Johnston and Brock Wright’s Relationship Status), known as Coba, is a former NCAA football and baseball player.
He initially committed to the University of Pennsylvania, but later transferred to Azusa Pacific University. Coba holds a bachelor’s degree in biblical studies and a doctorate in education. He is now the Dean of Students at Azusa Pacific University, where he previously attended.
