Will Shipley is a rising running back in the NFL. He was born in North Carolina, United States, on August 29, 2002. Shipley’s older brother, James, is also an athlete.
Will was born in Weddington and attended NC State University before enrolling at South Carolina’s Clemson University. After years of wearing the red, his parents, both NC State graduates, switched sides. Despite the fact that he has converted several relatives to Tigers supporters, he believes that others remain passionate Wolfpack followers.
Will Shipley began playing at an early age and honed his skills at North Carolina’s Weddington High School. Despite missing his senior year, he finished high school with 80 touchdowns, 84 catches, and 4173 yards on the ground. In his first season with the Clemson Tigers, Shipley has 11 touchdowns and 16 receptions for 739 yards.
His stats improved in his second season, as he ended with 13 touchdowns and 38 receptions for over 1100 yards. For his achievements in the 2022 season, he was named first-team All-ACC as an all-purpose player. Similarly, he was nominated for a number of collegiate awards, including the Paul Hornung Award, for which he was a finalist.

Will Shipley, a running back for the Clemson Tigers, is the son of James and Tammy Shipley. His father was born and raised in North Carolina and graduated from NC State University with a master’s degree in Sports Management. He attended Catawba College earlier.
James Sr. coached the Weddington Titans, his hometown’s football club, and seeing him instruct the young boys for Pop Warner inspired both of his kids. Will began playing football with his older brother, James Jr. when he was four years old. Their mother, Tammy, an NC State graduate, was more strict about academics and put education above all else.
So before heading out to play games, Mom always made sure the men accomplished their homework. Despite this, Tammy was proud of her children’s athletic ability and enjoyed watching them compete and participate in sports together. Tammy was ecstatic when Will expressed his desire to become a professional athlete while still in high school.
She’d seen him improve as a player so much over the years that she was convinced he could do far better in sports than in school. Nonetheless, he elected to continue his education at Clemson University, where he is pursuing a business degree while also competing for the Tigers on the football field. His parents wholeheartedly support him and are proud of what he has done thus far. Will’s main ambition is to win the national championship with Clemson and then play in the NFL after college.
His Brother James Is a Lacrosse Player
Will Shipley’s older brother, James Jr., plays lacrosse for the Penn Quakers. He went to Weddington High School and was a member of the football and lacrosse teams. In addition, James was the captain of his high school’s lacrosse team, which won three state championships (in 2017, 2018, and 2019).
His football abilities have garnered him several distinctions, including the two-time football state championship (2016 and 2018) and Charlotte Football Player of the Year. After graduating high school, he moved to Philadelphia to pursue his college degree in Business at the University of Pennsylvania. While playing for the Pennsylvania Athletics, he received an honorable mention All-Ivy and Second-Team All-Ivy pick.
