American professional wrestler Jamin Pugh went by the ring name Jay Briscoe.

He was most recognized for his work with Ring of Honor, where at the time of his passing, he and his brother Mark Briscoe were in the midst of their 13th reign as ROH World Tag Team Champions.

He was also a part of the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions and a two-time ROH World Champion.

At Delaware Invasion on January 20, 2001, Trent Acid and Jay and Mark Briscoe made their Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) debuts in a three-on-one handicap match.

The first Best of the Best event, which is slightly different from other CZW shows in that it is a tournament, saw the two make it through the first round.

Instead of engaging in bloody hardcore battles where the loser would be declared the winner, he concentrated on athletic junior heavyweight wrestling.

Speaking about Jay Briscoe, a wrestler, he has two children. Jamin Pugh, who went by Jay, died at the age of 38, and his two children suffered severe injuries.

The wrestler was not named in the deadly vehicle accident that happened in Delaware on Tuesday, according to WMDT and Forbes, but he was reportedly a Ring of Honor (ROH) star.

On Twitter, Tony Khan, the owner of ROH, announced the tragic death of Jamin Pugh.

Fans knew him as Jay Briscoe and he was a ROH star for more than 20 years, from the inaugural event to the present.

The Briscoe Brothers, the World Tag Team Champions, were the brother and brother team of the 38-year-old wrestler and Mark.

According to reports, Jay’s girls were also allegedly involved in the collision, and his wife Ashley Pugh has now verified that they were hurt.

In May 2013, Jay Briscoe’s wife incited controversy on Twitter by threatening to “fucking shoot” anybody who attempts to “teach kids that there’s nothing wrong with [same-sex marriage].”

On his Twitter account, he had previously made disparaging statements about gays.

Pugh originally expressed regret for the remark on the ROH website before making it clear again at a House performance on May 11 that the remarks were meant to represent Jay Briscoe’s point of view.

Pugh also agreed to give Partners Against Hate (PAH) his whole earnings from the next two performances.

As high school football players, Jay as a fullback and linebacker and Mark as a tight end and linebacker both earned honorable mention All-State recognition.

At one time, both had contracts to play for Wesley College (Delaware), which was utilized in a wrestling plot at ROH Beating the Odds to explain a break from which they were making a comeback.

The World Wrestling Federation was one of the two channels the brothers had access to on their television when they first developed an interest in wrestling.

Before the family constructed a wrestling ring in their backyard, they originally trained on a trampoline.

They practiced their skill, recording their moves and attempting to make them better.

They made their professional wrestling debut with the East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) while still in high school.

An ECWA promoter approached their mother Jana as she waited in line to purchase tickets for a wrestling match and inquired about her boys’ access to wrestling videos.

As a result, the brothers were scheduled to make their ECWA debut on May 20, 2000, going by the ring aliases “Jay and Mark Briscoe.”
