Case of the Missing Lucian Munguia
On September 10th, in the late evening, Lucian was reported missing at Sarg Hubbard Park.
His family members were part of the first search. The Yakima Police Department, Yakima County Search and Rescue, local fire departments, the U.S. Air Force, and teams from King and Kittitas counties eventually became involved as it progressed.
In order to help with the search, helicopters, search dogs, boats, ATVs, kayaks, and aerial and underwater drones were used.
The small boy’s remains were not discovered for many months despite the enormous search operation and continued attempts.
The nature of the river, its multiple tributaries, and the debris in the riverbed complicated the search.
