Who Are Maria and Felix Williams, Nico Williams’ Parents?

Nico Williams was born in Pamplona, Spain, to Ghanaian parents fleeing the Liberian Civil War eight years prior. His mother’s name is Maria Williams, and his father’s name is Felix Williams. Maria described how they left Ghana and traveled through the Sahara without food or water, how they could have been killed, and how they hid stuff in the best possible location.

She also told him about how she and Felix were imprisoned, and about a lawyer whose name he can’t remember who gave them a lifeline and a way back to where he was born. It is the location where he penned his biography. Despite the family’s lack of English skills, his brother Iaki stated in 2021 that they could interact with their relatives in the Twi dialect of the Akan language.

Meet Nico Williams’ brother, Iaki Williams

Nico Williams’ elder brother, Iaki Williams Arthuer, is a striker for Ghana’s national team and La Liga club Athletic Bilbao. He grew up in Athletic Bilbao’s development system and has participated in over 350 first-team games for the club, setting a La Liga record with almost 240 consecutive games played. Williams, a Ghanaian-born Spaniard, made his national team debut in 2016. He chose to represent Ghana internationally in the World Cup in 2022.

Williams was given a Basque first name to honor a Caritas Internationalis staff member in Bilbao who assisted Williams’ parents when they arrived in Spain the year he was born. Williams participated in Amazon Prime’s television documentary series Six Dreams during the 2017-2018 season.

Nico Williams’ Career

Williams, a 20-year-old attacking prodigy in Spain’s top flight, has achieved success for both club and nation in his brief career. He is seen as a dynamic forward with excellent ball control who can succeed on both flanks in the future by his respective clubs. Many European clubs are intrigued by Williams’ direct approach and ability to quickly defeat a player.

Off the ball, he makes good use of his speed by sprinting into tiny spaces and running smartly to assist his teammates in anticipation of a potential pass. He is recognized for his upbeat approach and passion for contributing to the group. He is also known for his outstanding ability to regain ball control once it has been lost.

Ernesto Valverde, coach of Athletic Club, believes Williams can improve: “Nico Williams is one more in the squad, and we value him the same as the other players.” We already know that when young people are thought to have huge future potential, their balloons skyrocket.
