The parents of Lucas Niang come from different backgrounds. His father, Nabi, is French, and his mother, Fatou Niang, is from Côte d’Ivoire.
Although Lucas was born in New York City, he lived part of his early years in Geneva, Switzerland, and then moved back to the US to settle in New Canaan, Connecticut. In New Canaan, Lucas first developed his love for football in the Pop Warner league during his third-grade year.
Football became his passion, even if he was skilled in other sports including baseball, tennis, lacrosse, wrestling, and basketball. Following his high school success, Lucas chose to attend TCU to play collegiate football. NFL scouts were drawn to his skill, and the Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Throughout his professional football career, Lucas had challenges, which included being placed on the reserve/PUP list. He overcame these obstacles to help the Chiefs succeed, and in Super Bowl LVII, the team defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, earning him his first Super Bowl ring.
Being the first Frenchman to compete in and win a Super Bowl, Lucas created history. As he continued to succeed, Lucas was crowned the winner of his second Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
