The bodybuilder husband Ray Mcneil was murdered by his bodybuilder wife, Sally Mcneil. The true-crime documentary Killer Sally on Netflix covers the criminal narrative.
There have been a ton of new true crime series recently on streaming sites, but it’s uncommon to find one that details the murder of a professional bodybuilder by his bodybuilding wife.
But things are about to change, and astonishingly, the Netflix series “Killer Sally” may be what we crime lovers need.
Killer Sally stands apart from many other true-crime Netflix movies as Sally tells her story and, more crucially, how she wants it to be told.
Viewers learned the tragic reality of Sally’s abuse cycle, which included her parents as well as her husband Ray when she was a youngster.
In the series, it is also exposed the unfortunate effects of the abuse cycle the bodybuilder wife endured spreading to her children.
Due in part to the personal touch of having Sally herself in front of the camera, Killer Sally has been one of Netflix’s most-viewed true-crime shows since its launch in October 2022.
But she could only seldom give them the complete story.

Before Sally murdered her husband, Ray, Ray McNeil, and Sally McNeil were married in the middle of the 1990s.
Anthony Lowden was Sally’s first husband, and she had Shantina and John as children. Before divorcing, their marriage lasted four years.
At Camp Pendleton, McNeil finished her tenure in the Marine Corps and achieved the rank of Sergeant. She started bodybuilding while she was serving.
She met Ray McNeil, a different professional bodybuilder, in June 1987 after being recommended to him by a friend. They subsequently got hitched.
But they were dating for around two months before they were married. But three days later, Ray began abusing Sally and her two children. Ray assaulted and choked Sally.
During their time together, Ray participated in the 1993 Mr. Olympia competition and placed fifteenth. In addition, he had studied acting and participated in professional wrestling.
Additionally, the bodybuilder entertained audiences in free comedy shows held at The Comedy Club in La Jolla, San Diego.
New True-Crime Documentary on Netflix Update on the Killer Sally Case
In a new true-crime Netflix documentary called Killer Sally, the events leading up to Mr. Olympia contestant Ray McNeil’s 1995 murder were detailed. However, crucial information was left out.
Sally McNeil, a former amateur wrestler who was Ray’s wife and the killer, is the topic of the documentary.
Sally McNeil shares her story via interviews, going into great depth about her early years, her marriage to Ray, the night of the murder, the subsequent investigation, and the trial.
Sally’s account of the events is detailed, but she notes that she is just human and that her memory is incomplete.
Early on in the program, a 911 call from Valentine’s Day 1995 may be heard. Sally McNeil, the caller, claims that she shot her husband Ray McNeil in self-defense.
Even after Sally murdered her husband, she seems to be in good spirits despite the background screams of her daughter.
“Killer Sally” has three unique chapters. Valentine’s Day, the opening movie, does a fantastic job of immersing viewers in McNeils’ world.
The episode not only establishes the relationship between Sally and Ray, but it also fully explains the history and structure of bodybuilding.
Sally McNeil Was Abused As A youngster
After experiencing violence so regularly as a youngster in her Allentown, Pennsylvania, home, Sally was reared in what she characterized as a difficult atmosphere.
Sally’s father, Richard Dale Dempsey, was a violent alcoholic who regularly abused her mother. There is no other information about Sally’s parents accessible online.
In high school, Sally began participating in athletics. She enrolled in East Stroudsburg State College, which is now East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, with the goal of becoming a gym teacher.
She had been studying for three and a half years, but with just one semester left, she was unable to continue because she needed more money.
