Amber Glenn, a talented figure skater from Plano, Texas, comes from a family of exceptional individuals. Her mother, Cathlene, teaches fitness, while her father, Richard, works as a police officer.
Glenn, born on October 28, 1999, began skating in 2004, and she has already garnered numerous awards. She won a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior Grand Prix (JGP) in the Czech Republic and was named national junior champion at the 2014 US Championships.

First LGBTQ+ female figure skater on Team USA
On January 26, Amber Glenn made history by being the first LGBT woman to win the US Women’s Figure Skating Championship. The crowd applauded the 24-year-old athlete as she received her gold medal and draped the Progress Pride flag over her shoulders.
In 2019, she revealed her bisexual and pansexual identities. Her coming out has made her an important role model for younger LGBTQ+ figure skaters. She made history in the 2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ woman to win a medal in the United States.
Amber reflected on her experience, stating that the figure skating community frequently assumes men’s sexual orientation, resulting in a lack of representation for bisexual and queer women. However, she chose to come out and proudly represent herself as a bisexual woman in the sport of ice.
