Tim and Kate Cowley, the parents of late surfer Khai Cowley, are going through the most difficult time of their lives. The couple recently lost their 15-year-old son, Khai, a well-known junior surfer in Australia.
The family is in mourning, with Khai’s parents witnessing the most shocking event of their lives. Khai Cowley was a surfer with a family history. His grandfather, Peter Barley, uncle, Adam Barley, and the child all won prizes at a recent surfing competition.
As the family’s third-generation surfer, the youngster was skilled and popular from an early age. Unfortunately, he died on December 28, 2023, as a result of a shark attack. According to sources, Khai is the third person to die this year and the eighth person to die in a shark attack in South Australia in the last 22 years.

Tim and Kate Cowley, Khai Cowley’s parents, are unable to comment at this time. They are Australians who rose to prominence after the death of their teenage son. While Khai’s grandfather and uncle are both surfers, his parents do not appear to be in the same league. However, it has come to our attention that his father, Tim Cowley, also enjoys surfing.
He was with his son, Khai, on Thursday at Ethel Beach on the Yorke Peninsula West in their hometown of Adelaide. According to reports, the child died after being attacked by a large white shark while surfing. Cowley’s body was discovered in the ocean minutes after the assault on Ethel Beach in the Inner National Park.
Tim, his father, was horrified as the shark bit his leg. According to sources, the father-son duo went on a short trip together to a surfing location about 4 hours away from their home. Following the boy’s death, his family and loved ones remember him. Uncle Adam and the boy’s regular surfing, according to his grandfather. Furthermore, the surfing community remembers the late surfer as a brave and skilled young man.
Khai Cowley Family & Professional Lives
Cowley’s parents, Tim and Kate Cowley, are not well-off. Even though little information about their occupation or location has been provided, they appear to live a normal life with enough money. The late surfer’s aunt, Lauryn Barley, set up a GoFundMe page to help Khai’s parents with burial costs. Almost 1300 contributors raised more than $75,000 until the 30th of December.
In addition, the community has agreed to hold a peddle-out event in Cowley’s honor to honor his life and enthusiasm for the sport. The Port Noarlunga Football Club also extended condolences to the family. They released the following statement: “Khai and his family have been part of our community for many years and we are shattered to hear this news.”
