Nashville Senior Pastor Jada Scruggs is Chad’s wife. Chad is senior pastor of Nashville’s Covenant Presbyterian Church. Hendersonville native Chad graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2001.
Chad moved to St. Louis with his wife Jada, from Jackson, Tennessee, to continue his Master of Divinity at Covenant Theological Seminary after graduation. He then became Associate Pastor at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas.
He joined Southern Methodist University’s Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) faculty. Chad and Jada have John Randall, Charlie, Carter, and Hallie. Unfortunately, the Covenant school massacre in Nashville killed their daughter Hallie Scruggs.

The Covenant School shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, has ties to North Texas. The six fatalities, including 9-year-old Hallie Scruggs, are the daughter of a Dallas Park Cities Presbyterian Church minister. Chad Scruggs was Covenant Presbyterian Church’s assistant pastor before becoming pastor.
Hallie was Chad and Jada’s youngest child. Our media partner WFAA TV reported that Chad and Park Cities Presbyterian Senior Pastor Mark Davis spoke by phone after Hallie’s death. Pastor Davis said he and Chad talked about Hallie’s identification for over 20 minutes.

Investigators said Audrey Hale, 28, is a transsexual guy and a former pupil. Police said Hale entered the institution well armed, had a thorough school map, and presumably cased the area. The church has invited the neighbors to pray for Covenant Presbyterian Church’s Sanctuary at noon on Tuesday.
