Her father, on the other hand, was opposed to the proposal since it may seriously harm Laila. His Muslim beliefs and outmoded attitudes about gender roles prevented him from supporting her boxing career.
In an interview, she stated that he did not feel women should engage in boxing. Despite her father’s objections, she began boxing when she was 18 years old. During her career, Laila held several titles, including the WBC, WIBA, IWBF, and IBA female super middleweight belts, as well as the IWBF light heavyweight title. She is largely recognized as one of the greatest female professional boxers of all time.
