He began his professional career at KING-TV as a sports producer and at KING AM as a sports reporter. In 1994, when the Pat Cashman Show changed radio stations, he relocated to KIRO-FM 100.7.
The 61-year-old also served as the host of Hawk Talk, a day-of-game show on the Seahawks Radio Network.

Suzanne Monson, a freelance copywriter, is the spouse of Dori Monson. She formerly worked as a writer for the Seattle Times for two decades.
She started working at the Seattle Times in 1999 by creating Money Makeover pieces, where she wrote about the personal struggles of people in the Puget Sound region who were having financial difficulties.

Together with his wife, Dori Monson was the father of three daughters. The five members of the family, along with their pet dog, lived in Lake Forest Park, Washington.
Monson was born to parents with Icelandic ancestry in Seattle, Washington. He was raised in Seattle’s Scandinavian neighborhood of Ballard. He went to Ballard High School to study.
While they were both students at the University of Washington, Monson met his future wife. For the Husky football on-campus broadcaster KCMU (now KEXP-FM), Dori worked as a play-by-play announcer.
In 1984, Suzanne completed her studies at the University of Washington and received her B.A. in journalism and communications.
Before being married in June 1987, the pair dated for a while. They have three grown daughters that live with them.
On December 31, 2022, Dori Monson, 61, who was best known for hosting the afternoon talk show The Dori Monson Show in Seattle, Washington, passed away.
According to Kiro News Radio, he died at a hospital in Seattle as a result of a cardiac arrest.
Even though he had health concerns for a while, he continued to enjoy deep-sea fishing and pickleball.
