American Idol will return for one more round of auditions as the ABC show searches for the final candidate to make it to Hollywood in the next round. One of the candidates scheduled to perform in the upcoming episode is Elise Kristine, who rose to prominence on Tik Tok.
The 19-year-old vocalist is a student at Utah Valley University who has been performing since she was three years old. During her American Idol season 21 tryout, she told the judges that music is her entire existence and that she wants to do it for the rest of her life. The next episode of the talent competition will air on ABC on Sunday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
Elise Kristine discusses her American Idol season 21 tryout on ABC4 Utah
Elise Kristine, a 19-year-old Utah State University student, will compete in the final American Idol season 21 tryouts. Kristine appeared on ABC4 Utah recently to discuss her “unreal” experience applying for the program.
She continued, saying:
“You walk in and your breath is taken away. It’s a massive space, and the evaluators are overjoyed.”
She stated that she couldn’t discuss the tryout during the conversation, but she did reveal how she was chosen for the program. Elise claimed to have been found on the internet. The American Idol season 21 contestant also stated that she posts a lot of videos of herself performing on Instagram and Tik Tok, which she started during Covid because she was bored. She continued, saying:
“I was approached by a lady who asked, ‘Yo, do you want to audition for American Idol?'” “He*k yeah,” I said.
Going on the show, according to Elise, requires a process, so she had to send a video tryout to the show’s directors and executives and then wait. She was eventually contacted by the show’s producers and asked to perform for the judges in Las Vegas. When asked about the tryout, the American Idol season 21 contestant said it was surreal and that she doesn’t remember half of what happened. She continued, saying:
“I’m going to watch the audition and think, ‘What the hell did I do?'”
While Elise has not revealed the music she will perform on Sunday’s show, she has stated that her style is “pop, R&B, Jazz.” She went on to say that she can perform in a variety of styles and that she grew up in a musical theater family. Elise also stated that she was unsure how the evaluators would react. She stated that she thought she did well and spoke highly of the evaluators, describing them as “glowing.”
Sierra Harris, Sarah Michele Maccar, Phil Kane, Oliver Steele, Mikenley Brown, Keya Stewart, Caroline Baran, Jayna Brown, Isaac Brown, Fire Wilmore, Cameron Osterloh, and Brooklyn Stafford will all appear on the upcoming American Idol episode, alongside Elise Kristine. The next episode of the talent competition will air on ABC on Sunday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
