Designer and businesswoman Emily Bargeron was raised in a close-knit family in Savannah, Georgia. The talented candidate first fell in love with fashion and design while playing with dresses in her grandmother’s closet when she was a little girl.
Before working as a Pagination Supervisor and Graphic Designer at the Statesboro Herald, Emily obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion or Apparel Design from Georgia Southern University. After receiving positive feedback for her creations during Charleston Fashion Week in 2009, she made the decision to focus solely on design and founded Mamie Ruth.
Speaking about her grandmother, the candidate said that she was always impeccably dressed and that Emily’s fashion sense was influenced by her. Speaking about her grandmother, the candidate claimed that she was “95 and still kicking,” and that her fashion label Mamie Ruth was named after her.
The Making the Cut contestant operates three businesses in Savannah, Georgia: the Mamie Ruth store (a vintage shop), an ice cream parlor/gift shop, and a company that creates bespoke T-shirts. Emily makes clothes that are “very bright and brings back happy memories.”

In the season premiere, the contestants were required to submit two costumes for their evening-war project, which would be displayed as part of a catwalk event on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Emily chose a tiered rainbow-colored skirt, which the judges believed did not fit the project’s requirements, while the other participants presented a wide range of styles, colors, patterns, textures, and designs. The two-piece suit was “too daytime,” according to the experts, and wasn’t fit for wearing at night.
The candidate agreed with the comments and begged the judges to give her another chance. Her second accessible jumpsuit had lovely colors, but the judges on Making the Cut felt that the waistline ruined the design sense and “felt cheap.” Emily was eliminated from the competition after she “didn’t make the cut,” according to Heidi.
The Making the Cut winner will also receive $1 million to invest in their business, mentorship from Amazon Fashion, and the chance to sell out a collection in the Making the Cut shop.
They will also get the chance to create brand-new color combinations and associated goods for the store.
The first two episodes of Making the Cut Season 3 are now accessible on Amazon Prime Video. The next two episodes will run on August 25, 2022, a Thursday.
