The first episode of Race to Live: Alaska will air next week, with eight teams competing to live along the Alaskan coast while dealing with severe weather, difficult terrain, and unknown territory.
In the endurance program, 16 competitors will compete in two-person teams. Hakim Isler, a seasoned survival specialist and the CEO of Elevo Dynamics, is one of the characters set to appear in the upcoming show. According to his bio on the USA NEtwork:
“Hakim, 45, is a skilled psy ops Army veteran who owns a survival school where he teaches basic survival skills to vets suffering from PTSD.”

The war survivor and co-founder of Spirit Quest, a professional survival specialist, will appear on the upcoming survival reality television show. According to his Race to Survive: Alaska profile, Hakim is a military soldier who served in Iraq. During Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was a Psychological Operations Sergeant in the Army’s Special Operations Forces. Hakim founded Elevo Dynamics’ The DOJY, a martial arts and 24-hour school. According to his resume, he has more than a decade of experience and an additional 15 years in the “security field.”
“Hakim is a former member of the Army Special Operations community who received Arabic language training, survival training, evasion training, paratrooper training, and other specialized training during his time in Iraq.”
The future USA Network show competitor is a 5th-degree black belt in To-Shin Do and trained under Black Belt Hall of Famer and author Stephen K. Hayes. He also has a First Degree Black Belt in Manog, an FCS Kali First Degree Black Belt, and a Tiger Kali First Degree Black Belt.
According to his website, he has previously appeared on Discovery Channel’s Naked & Afraid, Naked & Afraid XL, and Fox’s Kicking & Screaming. In 2019, he appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show and demonstrated his survival skills using household items.
When asked why “moms” need survival skills, the future Race to Survive: Alaska contestant said, “survival is the hot topic in today’s world.”
“Disasters happen right in your own backyard; there are fires, blizzards, and floods, so everyone needs to know the basics.”
He went on to say that mothers always carry emergency supplies with them and used a baby backpack to demonstrate this. He also stated that baby backpacks contain drinks, food, a first-aid kit, and sunscreen. According to the competitor, baby purses may contain items that people frequently overlook, such as hand disinfectant, and she added:
“Hand San has a high alcohol content; you can use it to start a fire or, if necessary, make a small stove out of a can.”
Hakim went on to say that the diaper can be used as both a cloth to stop bleeding and a patch.
