Hall was in the Springfield, Missouri, Medical Center for Federal Prisoners. He was convicted of abducting Jessica Roach in 1995 and sentenced to life in prison.
He confessed to killing Roach, Reitler, and two other women throughout the investigation but later changed his narrative, saying he was talking about nightmares. The police wanted him to confess his involvement in these crimes.
He learns from Hall, as it is described in the book, how he chose to target and murder those girls. The FBI was unable to find the body of Reitler, though.
When Keene noticed the map in Hall’s hand, he sent a message to the FBI, but they did not get it. Keene instead blew his cover and confronted Hall because he thought the communication had reached the authorities and he would be freed soon.
He was detained in solitary confinement and only released after a psychiatrist ordered it upon his return from vacation. Unfortunately, the map had already vanished by that time.

Jimmy Keene was warned by Lawrence Beaumont that he would not be released from prison if he failed to locate Reitler’s remains. Nevertheless, even though the authorities were unable to find Reitler’s body, they still released him as promised.
His criminal record was cleared, and he was released from prison in 1996. He worked in real estate and became an author after being released from prison.
He was able to spend a few more years with his father, who passed away in 2004, thanks to his acceptance of the agreement. He initially had no intention of taking part in the sting, but after his father suffered a stroke, he decided to do so.
The time he spent with his father meant more to him than anything in the world, he had previously stated.
