Who Is Johnny Weir From “Criss Angel’s Magic With the Stars” Season 1?

The first season of Criss Angel’s Magic With the Stars will air on the CW on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and will feature Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir.

Johnny will compete on the show against 19 other famous contestants. The idea behind the show is that in each episode, two contestants train with Criss to learn his incredible magic tricks for the competition and to create a mind-blowing series of magic shows to amaze the audience.

Criss Angel’s Magic With the Stars awards the coveted Golden Wand to the celebrity who received the highest score at the end of each show. According to the official synopsis of the program:

Eddie Griffin, the host of “Undercover Brother” and “A Star is Born,” presents the series, which is filmed on the AMYSTIKA stage at the Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

The son of John Weir and Patti Weir (née Moore), Johnny Weir is a host and analyst. He was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, on July 2, 1984. His mother works as a house inspector and nuclear power plant employee, and his father is an engineer for nuclear power plants.

When Johnny began skating at the age of 12, he immediately fell in love with it. His dress choices and outspokenness have led to problems with the US Figure Skating team. He was known throughout his career for being “a highly lyrical skater” and “an engaging artist.” Despite this, he took home several prizes and contests.

He won the US Nationals three years in a row for the first time in 2004 after being the youngest skater to do so in 1991. Additionally, Johnny made history in 2007 when he became the first American to win the Russian Cup.

At the Winter Olympics in 2006 and 2010, the twice-elite athlete represented the United States. In addition, he won the 2001 World Junior Championship, earned two bronze medals at Grand Prix Finals, and won the US National Championship three times (2004–2006).

After years of showcasing his skills in the ring, Johnny retired from competitive figure skating in 2013. He joined NBC in 2014 to serve as a pundit for the Sochi Olympics. Johnny has been involved in LGBTQ advocacy since coming out at the beginning of 2011.

Even with Britt Stewart as his partner, the first black professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars Season 29, he participated in the competition in 2020. Before being eliminated from the competition, the team made it to the semifinals.

Before being eliminated after the first week, Johnny also made an appearance as “Egg” in Season 2 of The Masked Singer. He served as a US commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on Peacock. Johnny and gold medalist Tara Lipinski are close pals.

They have co-hosted a lot of programs, including the Wedding Cake Challenge on the Food Network. Victor Voronov, his former spouse, and he divorced in 2015 after four years of marriage.

To perform for the judges on Criss Angel’s Magic With the Stars, Johnny is now getting ready. 20 famous people will take part in the event, and their performances will be judged by Emmy Award-winning comedian Loni Love, Master Magician Lance Burton, and Star Magician Criss Angel.
