Shari Foltz, the mother of Stone Foltz, filed a civil case for Stone Foltz’s wrongful death against Pi Kappa Alpha, the Delta Beta Chapter, and eleven other people.

Who Is Maddy Borja, Stone Foltz’s Girlfriend?

Maddy Borja, the victim’s fiancée, described the victim’s state mere hours after he drank what would prove to be a fatal amount of alcohol.

Maddy, his girlfriend, ultimately made the 911 call.

Stone Foltz, the victim, was pledging Pi Kappa Alpha in 2021. He went to a fraternity function where it was supposedly customary for pledges to consume or attempt to consume an entire bottle of beer.

Fraternity members reportedly brought the victim to his residence next, where they left him until he was subsequently discovered unconscious, according to sources.

Eight former fraternity members were charged with crimes linked to the hazing event and were found guilty at trial or entered guilty pleas during the inquiry.

Why do the Stone Foltz parents accuse BGSU?

In June 2022, the victim’s parents filed a lawsuit against the university, saying that BGSU overlooked hazing, including the fraternity Foltz was pledging to before an alcohol-fueled hazing event led to his death.

After Bowling Green reached a $2.9 million settlement in his complaint for hazing death, Stones’ parents became a hot subject online.

Their 20-year-old son passed away at a fraternity gathering in March 2021 after spending three days off-campus.

Stone’s parents reportedly said that they will use the funds to promote their anti-hazing charity, according to NY Times.

Fox News states that over a year after their son passed away from alcohol intoxication due to hazing at the Ohio school, Stone’s parents announced on December 23, 2023, an unprecedented $2.9 million settlement with Bowling Green State University.

In what has been dubbed the “largest payout by a public university in a hazing case” in state history, the victim’s parents, Shari and Cory Foltz, settled with Bowling Green State University (BGSU).

The Foltz family and the University said in a joint statement that even though they will receive money as part of the settlement, the terrible event would always have an effect on them.

Was the death case of Stone Foltz resolved?

Yes, after two years of wrangling, Stone Fotz’s case was resolved.

Fox News reports that Stone, together with their lawyers Rex Elliott and Sean Alto, stressed the need of taking preventative action against college hazing on a national level and claimed the roughly $3 million.

Elliott said that in addition to the financial settlement, BGSU has agreed to work with them in their efforts “to eradicate hazing.”

According to the university’s inquiry, the 20-year-old had attended a fraternity initiation party where it was customary for new members to consume all of a bottle of beer.

His mother, Shari Foltz, said during the press conference on Monday that they want to expand the foundation’s educational component and keep up the battle to save lives.

According to court records obtained by The Associated Press, Foltz’s family has already received more than $7 million from the University and other parties connected to his death.

According to CBS News, despite knowing about the hazing in fraternities and sororities, his parents accused the institution of neglecting to take action.
