His images and writings have appeared in Public Culture, Dissent, and Profil. He works as a documentary photographer, filmmaker, and sociologist. Her adult son Noah, who resides in their New York City apartment with Kathryn and Said, finds it difficult to balance his academic obligations with those he feels he owes his mother.
Despite her regular depression, Kathryn is adamant about seeing her daughter’s wedding day. The 930 hours of footage used for this project were recorded from Kathryn’s point of view using a fixed camera without any crew members present. The result is a deeply personal, nuanced, and incredibly funny portrayal of a broken family.
