Sage O’Donnell

The Russo-Ukrainian War has raged for a long time between Russia and Ukraine. Russia has continued to strike cities around Ukraine as the fight continues. Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, hailed Ukrainian soldiers for referring to them as heroes. During the conflict, many individuals died, both civilians and military.

One of them is Sage O’Donnell. He was killed battling Russians in Ukraine just before Christmas. Ukrainians applauded the Victoria native’s bravery and sent touching tributes to him for protecting their motherland.

Sage O’Donnell: Who Is She? In Ukraine, a 24-year-old Australian man died.

Sage O’Donnell, a 24-year-old Victorian, travelled to Ukraine to aid the country’s defense against Russia. According to reports, the former Australian Army soldier died on December 21. According to accounts, the soldier perished near the cities of Bakhmut or Novomkil’s’ke, both of which are severely disputed in eastern Ukraine.

Sage O’Donnell’s death was verified by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. According to his LinkedIn, O’Donnell joined the Australian Army as a part-time Rifleman and was promoted to Artillery Observer until February 2021. He described himself as a young Australian with diverse experience seeking a career in public service.

Sage O’Donnell was thanked by Ukrainians for defending their country.

Ukrainians flocked to social media to express their gratitude to the late Australian serviceman for protecting their country in the fight against Russia. They have also expressed heartfelt tributes, according to the Daily Mail. Anja Konstantynova, a Lviv resident who arranges care packages for Ukrainian troops on the front lines, praised him and said that the greatest ones are dying. “Worthy husbands, sons, brothers protect us, alas many protect us from heaven,” she said on her website.

Someone complimented Sage for his sacrifice and referred to him as a “Chaika” in the comments section. Mr. O’Donnell’s callsign was Chaika, which meaning Seagull. Both Ukrainian and foreign legionnaires use the callsigns on the battlefield. Brandon Declan, a buddy of the late serviceman, is also from Victoria. Brandon wrote in his grief at his friend’s death, “let’s meet when my time comes.”

Many more thanked him on social media for his sacrifice. However, not everyone was saddened by Sage’s passing. It is surprising that Russian war fans referred to O’Donnell as a “Nazi Mercenary” and apparently applauded his murder.

According to a post on a Putin-supporting Facebook website, the Australian mercenary was killed in the SVO zone. Unfortunately, the post has 4K likes and several comments. A Twitter account called Nazi Merc Tracker, which shares and tracks the movements of foreign soldiers in Ukraine, also mocked O’Donnell’s murder.

Sage O’Donnell and His Parents

Sage O’Donnell’s parents have been crushed by their darling son’s untimely demise. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced Sage O’Donnell’s death with a touching message from his mother (whose identity has not been revealed).

According to the soldier’s mother, her son fell in love with Ukraine and was overwhelmed by the warmth and friendliness of his new community. The bereaved mother went on to say that her son, who had always believed in safeguarding Ukraine, died in action defending the country’s people’s independence.

She went on to say that Sage kept his ideals while serving in Australia and overseas, and that he was motivated by “empathy for the Ukrainian people” and the “injustice that has occurred.”O’Donnell’s father, on the other hand, resorted to social media and claimed that his son died battling Russian President Vladimir Putin.
