Born on April 11, 1986, Sean Lewis transitioned from playing collegiate football to coaching football. Lewis went to the University of Wisconsin as well as Harold L. Richards High School.
He worked as a personal trainer and in office supply sales after receiving his degree before opting to pursue a career in coaching. Afterward, he was employed as a coach by Colorado, Nebraska-Omaha, Akron, Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green, Syracuse, and Kent State. Lewis was just appointed as San Diego State’s next head coach, taking over for Brady Hoke, who is retiring.

The football coach Sean Lewis wed Sarah Lewis, his longtime partner. Throughout Sean’s football career, Sarah has been a constant source of support. He took a moment to thank his wife, Sarah, for being his rock and best friend, as he was announced as the new head coach at San Diego State. He acknowledged that without her support and inspiration, reaching his current position would not have been possible. He further stated that without his wife’s steadfast motivation and support, he could not have reached this position.
Kiera, due in 2020, and Rory, born in 2016, are the couple’s two children. The fact that Sean Lewis’s wife, Sarah, and their kids, Rory and Kiera, were there in the front row when he was chosen head coach highlighted how important family is to him.
Sean Diego State was appointed head coach of football
Sean Lewis has been appointed the 19th head coach in the football team’s history at San Diego State. Lewis declared his happiness, adding,
“I’m thrilled to introduce a fast-paced, agile, balanced football style that attacks vertically and provides us with multiple winning opportunities.”
Lewis has formally agreed to a five-year contract with San Diego State. His starting pay will be $1,753,100 in 2024, and it will increase yearly. This places him as the fourth-highest paid coach in the Mountain West Conference, per USA Today.
In addition, he has many incentives in his contract: $25,000 for making it to the conference finals and $75,000 for winning it. In addition, there is a $75,000 incentive for defeating two teams ranked in the top 25 (AP or USA Today), a $50,000 reward for being in the top 15, and an additional $10,000 if the team keeps their GPA above 2.80.
