He stated, “She [Steve’s mother] is anxious about her tiny child being beaten up and all that sort of thing. So she was just trying to protect me differently.” The UFC flyweight fighter believes that his family is very close and that he sees his parents once a week.

Erceg began his MMA career at the age of 21, however, his first professional fight occurred in 2016 against Ryan Robertson in the Australia regional. He won using his favourite guillotine choke. On September 1, 2017, his second match against Sean Gauci resulted in his first loss.
It was his only defeat in 11 fights, and he has since won ten straight fights. Steve has an 11-1 record, including one knockout and six submission victories. According to reports, his MMA career earnings are $50,000. In June 2023, he was invited to Dana White’s Octagon for UFC 289.
Despite having only eight days’ notice to encounter a difficult opponent, David Dvořák, he was undeterred and won by UA. On November 11, 2023, the Australian fighter faced Alessandro Costa in his second UFC battle at UFC 295. He won again with UA.
